As is the case with many people, it was my expansion of knowledge through college academics that transformed my longtime interest in mental health into an even greater passion for the field. I graduated from DePaul University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and minor in Psychology. While going through the intellectual journey of academia, I had to simultaneously navigate the new challenges affecting my chronic Lyme disease symptoms. It was this battle of mental and physical forces that sparked my specific interest in how mental health is uniquely impacted in individuals also suffering from chronic illnesses for which the physical symptoms are typically the chief concern. As this interest was sparked from my own experiences, it has developed into a passion that I hope to explore throughout my career. Before joining the NBR team, my predominant experience with research was in an organic chemistry laboratory at DePaul University. Since performing chemical reactions all day was a rather solitary task, the experience confirmed how important human connection is to me and my ideal work environment. Now, as a Study Coordinator, I get to interact with wonderful people every day. At NBR, I perform many of the routine activities and collect the required data for clinical studies, such as obtaining a patient’s medical history, measuring vital signs, and monitoring their compliance with the investigational medication. In a broader sense, I view my role as a Study Coordinator as being the one to guide patients through the experience of participating in a clinical research study - ensuring their safety and wellbeing at every step along the way.

As a graduate of Kent State University, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology and Audiology along with a minor in Psychology in 2021. Since joining Neuro Behavioral Research in 2023 as a clinical research coordinator, my duties can include: prescreening process for potential research “medical heroes”, screening patients for clinical trial protocols, abiding by all protocol guidelines, coordinating all research duties with CRO/sponsors, and making patients feel comfortable, safe, and heard.

My love for research pairs with my innate sense to have a concrete understanding of the bigger picture but my passion for mental health largely developed after having children. The postpartum depression studies are what initially drew me to NBR, and the rest is history. Prior to NBR, I was a research assistant in the psychology department at Kent State University where I accompanied Dr. Jon Dunlosky in his comprehension and memory lab. Outside of research, you can find me having dance parties with my two young girls, Thea and Carlin. I also love weight training and finding new favorite restaurants.

I went to the University of Akron and obtained my Bachlor’s of Science in Labor Economics. I wanted to work in the medical field because I love to take pride in my job and NB-CR is a great place to work. Even though I don’t directly handle patient care but knowing that I am a part of an organization that helps patients, it puts a smile on my face.

I have 2 young daughters and they take up most of my time. I love to go down to my father in-laws’ cabin and spend the weekend off the grid with no cell service with my family. My wife and I love to take ours kids out on bike rides to all the local parks in the summer. Here at NB-CR, I manage the office, maintain office contracts, Human Resources and maintain facility upkeep.
